South Jordan Middle School
At this time of the year it is easy to get overwhelmed because state testing and seemingly every end-of-the-year activity looks to be on a collision course. In these stressful times it is just fun to look at our students and see the good in them. Face it, middle school kids can be funny creatures. They can think they are pulling one over on you and while you see through it, you play along to see where it goes. One minute they are giving you heck and the next they are participating and learning. Being patient and not saying something you will regret will pay off most of the time.
Remember that patience, love and kindness are resources we educators can bring to bear in infinite ways. A smile costs us nothing and goes a long way to spreading the good around.
Assistant Principal in the Jordan School District. I have been an educator for 23 years. The more we learn to love the job, the more it loves us back.
